Transit Job Action: Schools and District Remain Open

UPDATE (6:45am November 27): Translink and the union announced that they reached a tentative deal just before 12:30am, averting a complete shutdown of bus and SeaBus service in Metro Vancouver. Translink’s website is advising that there may be longer waits than usual for buses as they resume normal service. Please allow extra time to get to school and remind your children about road safety, as there may still be additional traffic on the roads this morning.

Unless a deal can be reached, the union representing bus drivers and maintenance workers has indicated there will be a complete bus and SeaBus system shutdown across Metro Vancouver on November 27, 28 and 29.

While we recognize that transit job action may cause concern, schools and the District will remain open as normal. We recommend you check Translink for updates and make other travel plans as necessary. You may find the following links helpful:

Translink estimates there may be as many as 36,000 additional cars on the road during the morning rush hour. You may wish to remind your child about road safety and awareness.
