Musicians and vocalists from Burnaby Schools took top honours in two Con Brio music festivals in BC.
Bands and choirs from both Burnaby Central and Alpha Secondary schools received superior marks for their performances at adjudicated music festivals held at Sun Peaks and Whistler, respectively.
All three ensembles from Burnaby Central – Tour Choir, Chamber A Choir, and Senior Jazz Band – achieved Gold standing at the Sun Peaks Music Festival.
Alpha’s Festival Jazz Band and Senior Concert Band each received Gold standing, with the school’s Concert Choir taking home Silver at the Whistler Music Festival.
Con Brio Festivals offer student-musicians an active learning experience through the adjudication process and include interaction and performances with adjudicators, clinicians, and guest artists.
