Grade 12 students across the District have enjoyed several fun activities in their final year of public school, culminating in a celebration that included a dinner and dance with their peers.
Honouring Our Youth is a special additional ceremony for Indigenous graduates that follows local protocol through the generosity of Elders and Knowledge Keepers.
Each high school held ceremonies for all graduates on top of Burnaby Mountain at Simon Fraser University. Grade 12 students walked through the picturesque setting to meet with the awaiting crowd. School staff joined families in sharing pride in the students’ accomplishments.
Diplomas were presented individually. Graduates echoed generations past by ending their rite of passage with a toss of their grad caps.
