Four Schools are Finalists in National Music Contest

In a competition involving thousands of students from across Canada, four schools from the District have made the finals. Collectively, they have seven song entries that have made the “Top 10s” in their category of the Canadian Music Class Challenge.

Each year, music instructors choose a Canadian song from a list created by CBC Music, which runs the competition.

The winners will be announced on December 14 with first prize ranging from $1,000-$3,000 in new musical instruments and a plaque.

The following are the finalists from Burnaby, with students as young as Grade 3 in the running for the national honour and two schools having been selected for their rendition of Nikamo, a Cree lullaby.
