On October 17, 2026, elections will be held for Mayor, eight City Councillors and seven school trustees for a four-year term. The election of school trustees who sit on the Burnaby Board of Education is organized by the City of Burnaby to coincide with the elections for Mayor and City Council.

The Burnaby Board of Education is made up of seven elected school trustees. The Board’s primary function is to establish procedures and guidelines for the operation of public schools within the Burnaby School District.
In accordance with the School Act, the Board is responsible for producing a budget, administering expenditures, and liaising with individual schools through the School Trustee Liaison Program.
