Hockey – Skills Development at Burnaby North
The Hockey Academy at Burnaby North combines classroom success with hockey skill development. The high level instruction will develop well-rounded hockey players. The academy is run and administered solely by Burnaby North Secondary School, which is a licensed Hockey Canada Skills Academy partner. It was started 16 years ago and was one of the first full time hockey academies in the province. Students receive comprehensive instruction in the areas of power skating, shooting, passing, team systems, goaltending, and on and off-ice conditioning.
The school provides school bus transportation from the school to 8 Rinks each day in the afternoons and students are dismissed from 8 Rinks at 3 pm.
This is an option for all Burnaby students in Grades 8-12 with academic requirements met at their home school. Students receive credit for PE and a sport specific course.
