Students have been exploring culture, showcasing their learnings and celebrating Lunar New Year in a variety of ways across the District.
Preparations for a school-wide celebration are well underway at Forest Grove Elementary, home of the District’s Mandarin Language Arts Program. Students from Kindergarten to Grade 7 have been practicing for their Lunar New Year event, which will be held later this month.
At several schools, students have enjoyed both lion and dragon dances, along with other activities. Examples include writing Chinese characters, crafting paper lanterns, making dumplings, and many other ways for children and youth to explore culture and showcase their learnings.
