Burnaby Schools students took nearly 20% of the medals at a provincial French speaking competition, with two students qualifying for Nationals.
Nearly 200 youth from school districts across BC and the Yukon took to the stage to speak in French at Concours d’art oratoire. Thirteen secondary and elementary students from the Burnaby School District were among the 69 medal winners.
Grade 11 and 12 gold medal winners Kyra Wang and Isabella Liao have been invited to the Virtual National Finals of the French public speaking contest.

This year’s annual event was hosted at Simon Fraser University’s Surrey Campus, with close to $8,000 in cash prizes to top-performing students. The competition is put on by Canadian Parents for French.
