WHAT JOBS DOES A WELDER DO?
- A Welder is a person who has training in and is capable of welding ferrous and non-ferrous metals in all positions, on both plate and/or pipe, using various welding processes.
- Welders deal with the selection, layout, shearing, cutting (with a torch), drilling and welding of metal plates and structural steel shapes into products
- work for sheet metal fabrication, welding shops and ship building companies
WHAT DO I NEED TO START?
- grade 10 completion (including English, Math and Science 10 credits)
- good employability skills
- strong interest in entering industry
- good hand-eye coordination and physical condition
- strong math skills are an asset
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

WHEN AND WHERE IS THE PROGRAM OFFERED?
- This program is held at a local Post-Secondary Institute, subject to availability
- Piping Industry College (PIC) on Annacis Island OR British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT)
