WHAT JOBS DOES A METAL FABRICATOR DO?
- projects involving the construction of bridges, buildings, hoppers, conveyors, cranes, heavy mining equipment, logging equipment, and ship parts and equipment, and many rapidly evolving industries such as aviation
- Metal Fabricators deal with the selection, layout, shearing, cutting (with a torch), drilling and welding of metal plates and structural steel shapes into products
- work for sheet metal fabrication, welding shops and ship building companies
WHAT DO I NEED TO START?
- entering grade 11 or 12
- good employability skills
- strong interest in entering industry
- good hand-eye coordination and physical condition
- strong math skills are an asset
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
- post secondary apprenticeship training without the tuition fee (tuition is paid by School District, student fees & textbooks are paid for by student)
- 24 graduation credits
- Apprenticeship Technical Training Level 1 certification
- scholarship opportunities
- student registered with Industry Training Authority (ITA)

- February – July
- BCIT (Burnaby)
- full-time (Monday – Friday) 7:00am – 2:00pm
