School Spirit and Halloween Fun

As the excitement builds for Halloween, there are a variety of opportunities for students of all ages to enjoy the spirit of the season.

A group of high school students from Ukraine created ghosts out of rope. The youth made the craft at their regular weekend program. It’s led by a volunteer teacher and was created by the District’s Settlement Workers in Schools (SWIS).

With everything from pumpkin patches at the school to field trips, crafts, and activities that enhance school spirit, there have been many examples in the build-up to Halloween of both fun and learning activities.

Halloween is also an opportunity for conversations about how culture is not a costume, such as these learnings shared with schools to help support how to be creative and fun without causing unintentional harm.
