Students in Byrne Creek Community School’s Access Program are an integral part of the school community – filling coffee orders for staff and delivering. They do it all, take the orders, make the coffees, and the delivery that involves making change. It’s teaching the students numeracy, literacy and life skills all the while integrating them into the life of the school. Access Teacher LeighTaylor-Gibbs was the brainchild behind the program nine years ago. Today, thanks to the the support of some community minded businesses – Byrne Creek’s Coffee Team has become even more popular – and lucrative too!
