The Class of 2022 has earned a collective $6.8 million in scholarships and bursaries. From smaller to larger awards, every dollar helps students achieve their post-secondary dreams.
Many graduates are celebrating significant scholarship wins, such as the following.
Anna Muyan Li, from École Moscrop Secondary, received a $100,000 University of Toronto Engineering International Scholar Award.
Burnaby Mountain Secondary graduate Sarah Lennon earned an $80,000 UBC Centennial Scholars award.
Ervin Cadiz, a graduate of Byrne Creek Community School, was awarded a $70,000 TD Scholarship for Community Leadership. From the award statement:
Ervin was active in student government before he co-founded the Community School Union, a group that brings the voice of students to the school council and inter-agency meetings. Through this club, Ervin helped introduce important resources to students, including mental health services, a safe space for LGBTQ+ persons, and Black History Month events. Ervin also founded his school’s first esports club, with city-wide tournaments and charity fundraisers that boosted participant self-confidence.”
Burnaby Central Secondary graduates earned a number of athletic awards, including significant scholarships in women’s soccer for the following students who were part of the Soccer Academy at Central put on in partnership with the Vancouver Whitecaps:
- Ava Wright, Arizona State Athletic Scholarship
- Andrea Kraetzer, Arizona State Athletic Scholarship
- Olivia Ahern, University of Texas Athletic Scholarship
Many Burnaby Schools graduates were awarded the Beedie Luminaries scholarship of up to $40,000 each for their post-secondary studies:
