Tis the season for all things pumpkin, as students across the District get ready for Halloween with many activities that enhance school spirit and are just plain fun.
The most famous symbol of the season is in abundance, with several elementary schools enjoying pumpkin patches on their adjacent fields. Some of the pumpkins are donated by local businesses and some others are provided by the school’s Parent Advisory Council.
Students of all ages are getting in on the Halloween spirit with everything from artwork, books and music to pumpkin carving contests and costume days.
Halloween is also an opportunity for conversations about how culture is not a costume, such as these learnings shared with schools to help support how to be creative and fun without causing unintentional harm.
