Parents, Students (high school) and interested members of the public
The District’s Global Learning Program in partnership with the UN Association in Canada is pleased to present a panel discussion: “Empowering Girls: a Global Perspective from Burnaby to Liberia”.
Three Metro Vancouver experts will share insights on how to empower girls locally and globally and challenge the status quo.
Panelists:
1. Rosio Godomar, Educate Girls Network, on the multiplier effect of education for girls, its crucial role in economic empowerment, and what her organization is doing about it.
2. Peggy Chen, on her recent address to the UN regarding gender pay gap, her past work with the YWCA Strong Girls, Strong World program and her current insights.
3. Jordan Pickell, WAVAW, on her observations and the work of her organization to challenge and change thinking, actions and systems that contribute to violence against women and girls.
