Confederation Park has been designated an “Exemplary School” by the Arts Schools Network, in recognition of its commitment to excellence. The network is a collective made up of arts leaders with members such as K-12 arts schools, universities, colleges, and other organizations – all from across North America.
The five-year designation is given for demonstrating strategic evaluation of purpose, operations, and exemplary educational programs in association with the arts.
Confederation Park Education Through the Arts Elementary School is well known for delivering a rich and authentic arts-integrated curriculum where students explore themes, ideas and concepts through the arts. Students also further develop their craft of music, art, drama, and dance through regular weekly classes, and regular performances and showcases. They and their teachers also participate in Artist-in-Residence programs where new skills are developed and enhanced through special projects.
The award was presented at the annual conference of the Arts Schools Network at the end of October in Florida and accepted by Head Teacher Bonnie Ishii:
On behalf of Confederation Park School, I was proud to receive the 2019 – 2024 Exemplary School of Distinction award from the Arts Schools Network.”
Confederation Park is holding its annual art show on Saturday, November 16 at 7-10pm. The “Art Show Extravaganza” is open to family, friends and the community. This adult-only event will include a silent auction, raffles, artwork and original items for purchase plus food, refreshments, and music. Tickets are available at burnaby.schoolcashonline.com or at the door. All funds raised will go toward special program resources to enrich the students’ learning experience.
