At Burnaby Schools, we offer educational choice to allow our students to explore their interests, support their strengths, get exposed to a career, or open up their worlds. Information sessions for families are starting in January for both Elementary and Secondary students.
Secondary Schools
Learn about options available for high school students at one of our upcoming Secondary Open Houses or at our Career Education information session (dates and locations listed in the link below).
- Each of our eight Secondary Schools offer programs that give students the chance to excel in a specific area of interest, while fulfilling their academic requirements.
- Students don’t necessarily need to live in the school’s catchment to apply.
- Many of our Programs of Choice are done in partnership with higher education institutions or industry.
- Applications are received from February 1-28.
Elementary Schools
At the elementary level, families have an opportunity to attend one of upcoming information evenings to learn about our language programs (dates and locations listed in the link below).
- Our elementary schools offer both early and late French Immersion. The program provides an opportunity for children whose first language isn’t French to learn a second language.
- Burnaby also offers a unique Mandarin Language Arts Program (not immersion). It gives students the chance to learn Mandarin, and the language arts component provides children an appreciation for another culture, which opens up their worlds.
- Applications are received from February 1-28.
