Students Help Food Bank Stock Up for the Summer

Parkcrest students and head teacher, Holly Lloyd, came up with a great way to welcome the Greater Vancouver Food Bank to its new location in Burnaby. And, with the Food Bank receiving their lowest number of donations over its busy summer months, the end of the school year was perfect timing for the first-ever “Hunger Games.

Four elementary schools – Parkcrest, Lochdale, Capitol Hill, and Montecito – competed to see which school could collect the most donations. Lochdale was presented with the hand-made Hunger Games trophy, but the Food Bank was the real winner. Almost 2,600 food items were donated.
