Panel Discussion Marks ‘International Day of the Girl Child’

Issues concerning both boys and girls will be the focus of a public panel discussion to mark the International Day of the Girl Child, coming up on October 11, which recognizes girls’ human rights, the unique challenges girls face around the world, and ways to change this reality. Particular attention will be given to hyper-masculinity and hyper-sexualization in media and society, its impact on both boys and girls and useful strategies to counter negative messaging. Panels will featureexperts from the Metro Vancouver region.

The panel event is open to parents and the  general public and is free of charge. A second panel event is open to students from grades 8 to 12 and will be held on Wednesday, October 12th from 4 to 5:30 pm
