A reading program that provides extra support for struggling readers is making a difference in several Burnaby Schools. The program matches reading volunteers with individual students who together enjoy some uninterrupted quiet reading time twice a week. It began as a pilot project in the District last Fall at Windsor and Stride, and has since expanded to 4 more District schools. The program is run by the One to One Literacy Society. They have a wait list of interested Burnaby schools – they just need more adult reading volunteers. LEARN MORE
