 Important Dates

  • August 26th, 2023: Registration for new children, not previously registered
online, begins. Registration is on-going throughout the year.

All new children must be registered for the 2024-2025 year prior to attending a StrongStart Centre. Once the registration link is available, please follow the instructions on the form and check for accuracy. Duplicate registrations for more than one location will not be accepted. Incomplete forms will not be processed.

  • September 17th, 2024: Drop-in programming for all returning children begins (previously registered during the 2023-24 school year)

To ensure high quality programs and safe standards of practice, attendance is limited to 1-2 days a week, at one location, to ensure all children and families can participate in Burnaby StrongStart programs. Centres are indicated as FULL when their daily capacity is reached. Currently, programs are not able to accommodate caregivers who are providing childcare to children from multiple families.

What is a StrongStart Centre?

StrongStart Centres provide parents and caregivers an opportunity to share in their child’s early learning experiences and learn and grow together through PLAY. Families have the most important role in promoting their child’s well-being and learning and are asked to remain with their child to engage in this supportive and joyful, no cost, program.

StrongStart Educators are qualified Early Childhood Educators. They work in relationship with children and families to create safe and welcoming environments. Educators also provide carefully selected materials and activities to provide opportunities for children to invent, investigate, build theories, play, and learn skills necessary for lifelong learning.

Community partners such as the Burnaby Public Library, CCRR, Information Children, and Fraser Health Dental Screening are also invited to come and share how they can help support you and your family. Educators can connect you to additional community resources as well.

Burnaby Schools StrongStart Centres are open when schools are open for instruction (times may vary). Please see specific school website for opening hours.

Additional closures are posted at each centre and may differ between locations. Centres are indicated as FULL when their daily capacity is reached.

Preference to attend Burnaby StrongStart Centres is given to Burnaby residents living in the community closest to the centre.
